So what is the difference between motivation and revelation?
The Oxford English Dictionary defines Motivation as ‘a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way.’ It defines revelation as ‘a surprising and previously unknown fact that has been disclosed to others.’
It is sad that the child of God is stuck on reasons to love and serve God. Most children of God seek for motivation from the scripture. You would see them looking for scriptures to comfort them during their hard times or go to church so that the man of God may speak something ‘powerful’ and comforting to them.
You would hear a child of God say something like, “That pastor is just great, I loved how he told the story of David. It has just made my faith leap from one level to another.” And that would remain just a story. Today, men of God are judged by how comforting and pleasing their sermons are.
Religion has killed the child of God. Religion has taught him that he needs to read the word of God daily to grow. This is evident in some books with daily plans to comfort them through the word. These books have turned them into a robot that uses the scripture for comfort and motivation.
Because of this robotic nature, they cannot get a certain secrets to be able to overcome some things. They are in turn stuck to getting mere comfort from what they call ‘powerful’ and ‘revelatory’ words. To them, these words spark feel good sensations in their souls.
God says that He hides things and it is up to the Christian to search them out.
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
Proverbs 25:2 KJV
Two children of God can read a scripture like, “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want!”
The two might face very turbulent times regarding let’s say finances. The true remnant of God will be like, “This is a lie, the Lord says that He is my shepherd and I lack nothing. Despite my current situation, I still lack nothing. If the Lord is my guide I have everything. I will still rejoice and be glad in Him.”
The religious chap will try and motivate himself with the scripture. He will try to hide his fears by shouting and telling everyone that the Lord is their shepherd but because the word hasn’t sunk in he will contradict himself by complaining about the state of the economy, how unfair God is and how God cannot be understood. He will also go to the Lord grumbling and crying.
It is sad that most Christians go to church on Sunday for feel good sermons, pay for the word that was delivered and then await another Sunday to see if their favorite pastor will be preaching. I saw a shocking vacancy ad that needed a pastor who was sound in comforting and uplifting scripture.
The child of God is stuck on motivation and that’s why they follow motivational speakers in their social medias, they have a YouTube watch histories of fake uplifting words from heathens who pretend to know it all because they have some money and are famous. The child of God forgets that the system has to work for heathens to divert them into deception.
The child of God is busy quoting heathens and living by their mantras. They actually do not know how they land into new age religion and worship in other beings and things. Instead of them finding light in the word of God, they look for another heathen to follow.
It is so sad that the child of God has relegated spiritual things over physical wealth and fake prosperity. The child of God cannot ask himself that if heathens really have the true thing (wealth & dominion), why do they need to have security, crazy insurance premiums, always watching over theirs necks for someone against them etc.? What is wealth without freedom?
The love of temporal things has blinded the child of God. It has made them think that all there is is what they see. It has made them think that anyone who seems to have money, fame and influence are the ones authorized to tell them anything. No wonder they ask the common question, “Who are you to tell me anything?”
While it is not bad to be motivated by scripture, it is a sin to dwell there, why? Because you are limiting the Holy One of Israel to just ‘feel good’ sensations. The child of God today is so blinded that they rather listen to someone who tells them good and comforting things but not who awakens them.
Imagine a man saying, “This scripture has been fulfilled today in your hearing.” A man you saw grow up. A child you saw peeing on himself calling Himself the Messiah. Wouldn’t you want to stone that man? People thought it was weird that the Pharisees wanted to stone Jesus but they do it a lot today.
Today, any young person who teaches the word is looked down upon because they are young and inexperienced. It is beyond devastating that the child of God thinks that wisdom is in age. They forget that spiritual things are spiritually discerned. Even the Bible says deep calls unto deep.
The child of God thinks that old Theologians know much of the scripture and have walked with God more than anyone who is younger than them. They have brought in the tenets of corporate life into the spiritual life. This is why they wanted to stoned a very young man who called himself the Messiah because the aged, white-bearded Pharisees seemed to have it because they ‘sounded’ spiritual.
The child of God rather goes to someone who sounds ‘spiritual’ than someone who can tell them get their mat and walk. The child of God thinks that God’s power died with the disciples and nobody today can heal because apparently God replaced everyone who can heal with doctors. They also know that He also replaced prophets with science and technology.
Because of this notion from hell, the child of God doesn’t look for the potency of the power of God in scripture but uses it as a motivational tool and as a cramming piece so that they look educated and knowledgeable amongst fellow Christians.
So what is revelation? Revelation involves taking a step further to dive into the practicality of the word. In short it means putting the word into practice. Jesus outrightly denies anyone who doesn’t put the word into practice.
He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
Luke 8:21 NIV
Let’s explore more about what the Bible says about putting the word into practice. Do you know that you can be more blessed if you put the word into practice?
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
Luke 11:28 NLT
Paul tells Philippians that whatever they learnt from him to put it into practice
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:9 NIV
God commands it as well.
“You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the LORD.
Leviticus 22:31 NLT
The only way to get the true revelation of the word is to put it into practice. When the Bible says that by His stripes you are healed put that word into practice. It is also called sowing the word. Practice makes perfect right? It simply means that you may not get it in the first go.
If I practice a sport, does it mean I am a pro in the first instance? Why do Christians want to be pros in the first instance? Let’s say I am believing in the following scripture,
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8 NIV
Should I quit because I asked God for the third time? Why are most people diligent in knocking the doors of education for over 20 years and not the scriptures for just a short time? Why is it easy to forget Jesus’s words of, ‘My burden is light and my yoke is easy’ but it is so easy to keep doing baseless instructions from motivational speakers?
Why is it so easy for someone to read 50 motivational books and not work out a single word in the Bible? It is sad to hear men of God quote heathens in their sermons and even direct children of God to the knowledge of the world.
I am not against motivation but I am emphasizing on revelation. A secret is deeper than a reason. How? A therapist may give a depressed and suicidal patient multiple reasons to live and when those reasons are over the depressed patient will ultimately kill themselves.
A prophet on the other hand will give the person a prophecy of who they are in the kingdom and who they will become. They might give them the reason why they are fought and the depressed person will stop being depressed and focus on who they will become. Why? They were awakened through the revelation of who God wants them to be.
Consider yourself that depressed, lost and suicidal person. Where do you go for solace? Do you live through motivation? What if you are short of reasons? Guess what? The Lord says He already ordered your steps and He alone knows the plans He has for you. Will you still cling to reason or would want to dive deeper into the secret of who you truly are?
This is why this blog runs, to awaken you and draw you unto the knowledge of God. You cannot know yourself without knowing who made you and that’s why we made the video below. Motivational speakers will tell you to look within yourself but I tell you to look to the Lord. The heart is deceitful above all things.
So how do you get revelation? Well, it starts by knowing who you are.
